Grand Rapids, Mich. 鈥 In honor of Women鈥檚 History Month, on March 19, author and anthropologist, Barbara Rylko-Bauer, Ph.D., will deliver her speech, 鈥淎 Polish Doctor in Nazi Camps.鈥

In her talk, 鈥淲riting Women's History: A Polish Doctor in the Nazi Camps,鈥 Dr. Rylko-Bauer combines the history of World War II, the hardships of female concentration camp prisoners, and personal family narrative in discussing the research and conversations that contributed to her most recent book, 鈥淎 Polish Doctor in the Nazi Camps: My Mother鈥檚 Memories of Imprisonment, Immigration, and a Life Remade.鈥 Rylko-Bauer's book was recently named a 2015 Michigan Notable Book and won the Biography/Autobiography Prize in the New York Book Festival.

Other recent publications from Dr. Rylko-Bauer include a chapter on 鈥淪tructural Violence, Poverty, and Social Suffering,鈥 written with Paul Farmer in The Oxford Handbook of Poverty and Society; and 鈥淕lobal Health in Times of Violence,鈥 edited with Linda Whiteford and Paul Farmer.
