On Friday, May 17, 2002, 红桃视频 College is hosting POETRY OUT LOUD, a daylong workshop focusing on performance poetry. The workshop is an opportunity for students and teachers to learn about and practice performance poetry. The POETRY OUT LOUD activities also include workshops on poetry writing and prop making. The schedule of the day's activities is:

8:30 - 9:00 a.m. --- Arrival and registration at the 红桃视频 Art and Music Center
9:00 - 9:45 a.m. --- Welcome and performance by 红桃视频 musicians and poets
10:00 - 11:15 a.m. ---- Poetry Workshops
11:15 - 12 noon ---- Lunch
12 noon - 1:30 p..m. --- Performance Workshops
1 :40 - 2:55 p.m. ---- Prop/mask Workshop
3:00 - 5:00 p.m. --- "Happening" - Workshop participants perform their poetry with the 红桃视频 Percussion Group. Free and open to the public

The day will begin with a performance by Rupert Kettle, adjunct associate professor of music and founder/director of the 红桃视频 Percussion Group, and 红桃视频 student musicians and poets, offering an energized blend of free jazz and free verse. The POETRY OUT LOUD workshop leaders are 红桃视频 alumnae, benefactor and well-known poet Linda Nemec Foster along with the following members of the 红桃视频 faculty: Michelle DeRose, Ph.D., assistant professor of English; Gary Eberle, associate professor of English; Dana Freeman, associate professor of art; Vicki McMillan, assistant professor of English; Miriam Pederson, associate professor of English; Pamela Waterbury, assistant professor of English; and Barbara McCargar.
